In 1939, on the eve of the declaration of war with Germany, the British Government's Ministry of Information commissioned a number of posters to be displayed throughout the country upon the outbreak of the inevitable war.

This poster, using the Crown of King George VI as the only graphic element, simply read "Keep Calm and Carry On."

The original designer's identity remains unknown. However, this faithful reproduction of the original poster onto a tea towel by Lark (the first design company to make use of this image in homewares) is a tribute to the person who so cleverly captured the spirit of the moment.

So very British ... but universally re-assuring. Frame it, or use it with a stiff upper lip!
